What it’s like
A community arts venue with creative sessions for under-fives, dance classes and film screenings, plus a café to fall into afterwards.
This is a proper community spot rather than a big gallery day out, and that's the appeal. There are creative sessions built for the 0-5 crowd, so it suits toddlers and babies more than school-age kids looking for something flashy. Dance and creative movement classes run for various ages too, which gives you options if your child fidgets through anything sit-down.
The film side is a nice extra if you fancy something for yourself: screenings like the Borscht Film Club showing Man of Marble come in at £5, and there's a members' rate on some events if you're a regular. The Sunshine Social Club gives you a free first go, then it's a suggested donation after that, which is a fair way to try before you commit.
Opening hours shift through the week: earlier finishes Monday to Wednesday, later on Thursday and Friday until 8pm, and just a short Saturday morning slot from 10 till 2. Worth knowing that in July 2026 Saturdays are closed altogether and Fridays run to 6pm instead, and there's a full building closure on 5 September 2026 for ground floor works with everything cancelled that day. There's a café on site for a coffee and a snack, though there's no dedicated car park, just limited on-street spaces around the building, which can be a faff if you're juggling a buggy and a toddler in tow.
