What it’s like

A free-to-visit art gallery near Haymarket, handy for a quick culture stop with the kids on the way past.

This is a working art gallery rather than a hands-on museum, so don't expect buttons to press or trails to follow. It's free to get in though, which makes it an easy add-on if you're already near Haymarket and fancy five minutes of looking at paintings with the kids before they get restless.

It's open Tuesday to Friday until half five and on Saturdays until half four, closed Sunday and Monday, so it's really a weekday or Saturday plan rather than a weekend fallback. If those hours don't suit, they say you can visit by appointment instead, which is worth knowing if you're trying to fit it round nap times or school pickup.

Getting there is straightforward if you're coming by train or tram, with Haymarket Station and the Atholl Crescent tram stop both about five minutes on foot. There's no booking link to click.
