Liverpool City Sights Tour Bus
WHERE
Liverpool
What it’s like
Hop on an open-top bus for a live-guided loop past the big sights, or take the longer Beatles run out to Penny Lane and Strawberry Field.
You climb aboard and let someone else do the navigating for a change. The Hop-On Hop-Off City Tour is the quick one at 50 minutes, with a live guide or audio commentary in several languages, so you can jump off wherever catches your eye and pick up a later bus. The City & Beatles Tour takes 90 minutes and swings out to Penny Lane and Strawberry Field, which is the bit fans will be waiting for and everyone else will still enjoy from the top deck.
There's no toilet on board, so plan a stop before you climb the stairs, especially with a little one who's just had a drink. Only one wheelchair or one pram or pushchair fits on each bus, and both come with a low floor and ramp, so if you're travelling with a buggy it's worth knowing you might not be first in the queue to board.
Buses run daily from 10am to 4pm. The City & Beatles Tour goes at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm, with extra departures at 11:30am and 1:30pm on Saturdays, bank holidays and school holidays. The City Tour runs more often in peak season between April and October, starting at 9:50am with the last bus a little earlier once autumn sets in.
You don't have to book, and tickets are sold at huts on site, but the site itself says the Beatles route sells out fast, so if you've got your heart set on Penny Lane it's the one to sort in advance rather than hope for the best on the day.

Plan your visit
Do we need to book ahead?
You don't have to, tickets are available at ticket huts on the day. The City & Beatles Tour sells out quickly though, so booking ahead is the safer move if that's the one you want.
Does my toddler need their own ticket?
Only if they're taking up a seat. Children three and under travel free on a lap.
Is there a toilet on the bus?
No, you'll need to use public toilets around the city before you board.
Can we bring the buggy or a wheelchair?
Yes, but each bus only takes one pram or pushchair, and one non-foldable wheelchair, both with a low floor and ramp. There's an 'Accessible' ticket option for wheelchair users.
What time do the buses start and finish?
Both tours run daily from 10am. The City Tour starts at 9:50am and the last bus is 3:50pm in peak season or 3:20pm off-season, while the City & Beatles Tour runs at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm, with extra trips on Saturdays, bank holidays and school holidays.
