Immersive & Touring Exhibitions in Liverpool

Liverpool does this sort of thing with buildings as much as with exhibits. Liverpool Cathedral is free to wander, right in the city, though the Tower climb costs extra and comes with a hunt for hidden treasures on the way up. St Luke's, the bombed-out church, is a roofless shell turned open-air garden and café, and its programme shifts around events and weddings, so it is worth catching on the right day. For a wider look, the City Sights bus does a live-guided loop past the big sights, with a longer run out to Penny Lane and Strawberry Field for Beatles fans. If you want something free and open-ended, the cathedral nave and St Luke's garden both fit the bill, and either suits toddlers who need room to wander as much as older children who want a proper story. The Tower climb and the bus tour cost more but give you the city from above and a running commentary while you sit. Everything here is close to the centre, so a morning could easily take in more than one, and the café at St Luke's is a good place to break up the day.
