What it’s like

A one-off beginner's session on the pottery wheel, plus hand-building classes, on evenings and weekend afternoons.

This is a proper go on the wheel, not a five-minute demo. The beginner's experience is built around getting you actually throwing a pot, and there's hand-built pottery on offer too if you'd rather build up with coils and slabs than fight with the centrifugal force of a spinning lump of clay.

Sessions run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9, plus Thursday and Saturday afternoons from 1 to 3:30, and there's a second Thursday evening slot too. That afternoon window feels like the sensible choice if you want daylight and a clearer head for something fiddly; the evening classes suit anyone treating it as an after-work reset. Booking's required for all of it, so this isn't a wander-in-off-Lark-Lane sort of place.

Group bookings are catered for, which makes it a reasonable shout for a birthday or a get-together where nobody quite knows what to do with their hands otherwise. There's no drop-in option here, so you do need to sort a slot in advance rather than deciding on the day.
