What it’s like
A ride-on miniature railway and trams in Heath Park, with a sweet shop to raid afterwards.
The whole point of the visit is the ride itself: little trains and trams looping the park while your kids wave at everyone they pass. There's a sweet shop on site too, so the ride is really just the warm-up act before the real negotiation starts over which sweets they're allowed.
Under 3s ride free, which is a nice touch and means you don't need to work out whether a baby on your lap counts as a paying passenger. It's card only though, no cash, so don't turn up with a pocket full of coins for the little one to feel grown up with.
It only runs March to October, from 1pm to 5pm, so this isn't a rainy Tuesday in January plan. There's no booking needed, you just turn up in the window and queue like everyone else. If it's a birthday you're after, they do parties with a gazebo, table and chairs for up to 12, but you book that online in advance and you'll need to sort your own rubbish, since there's no bin disposal laid on for party debris.
