What it’s like

A 12-week term of acting, dance and singing that builds towards a musical theatre performance, with a mini's version for the younger crowd.

Three hours sounds like a lot to ask of a child on a Saturday morning, but it is split into proper hour-long blocks: acting with role play and improvisation, then dance, then singing, working towards a musical theatre performance at the end of term. For a seven-year-old who likes trying on different personalities, that's three different reasons to turn up rather than one long slog.

The age range is wide, three up to nineteen, so there's a separate MINI'S class rather than lumping toddlers in with teenagers learning proper stagecraft. That split matters more than it sounds; a three-year-old doing improvisation next to a sixteen-year-old rehearsing a solo would be nobody's idea of a good class.

A term runs twelve weeks and costs £180, or £120 for the MINI'S group, which isn't pocket change but is at least broken into monthly payments so it doesn't land as one big hit. You do need to pack a snack and a drink, since the short break in the middle of that three-hour stretch is the only pause they get. Booking ahead is expected rather than optional, so this isn't a turn-up-and-see kind of activity.

Need to know

Best for
3 to 19, with MINI'S keeping the youngest away from the teenagers
  • Fees can be paid monthly rather than as one lump sum
  • MINI'S is a separate class from the main Theatre School group, worth checking which one fits your child's age
  • Pack a snack and drink, there's only one break across the three hours
  • It's a term commitment, not a one-off session, so booking ahead is the only way in

Plan your visit

How much does a term cost?

£180 for the main Theatre School term, £120 for MINI'S, both covering twelve weeks. There are monthly payment plans if you'd rather not pay it all at once.

Do we need to book in advance?

Booking is required before joining a term, this isn't a drop-in session.

What age is it suitable for?

Children from three to nineteen can join, with the younger ones kept separate in the MINI'S class rather than mixed in with the teenagers.

What should my child bring?

A drink and a snack. There's a short break somewhere in the three hours and that's the only chance to refuel.

What do the classes actually cover?

An hour each of acting, dance and singing, building towards a musical theatre performance by the end of term.
