What it’s like

A once-a-year country fair with tractor trailer rides, birds of prey and skunks to meet, plus an evening barn dance for the grown-ups.

This isn't a farm you can just turn up to. It runs one day a year, the second Saturday of August, for the Country Fair, and it's worth building the day around because the list of things going on is long: tractor trailer rides round the farm, a birds of prey flight demonstration, circus workshops, a novelty dog show, and animal encounters where you get properly close to skunks, snakes, armadillos, prairie dogs, lizards and tortoises. There are native breed pigs, cows and sheep in pens too, so it's not all exotic stuff, plus sheepdog and gundog demonstrations and a Q&A with the farmers if your child is the sort who asks a hundred questions about tractors.

Tickets are £8 for an adult and £5 for a child, and that covers pretty much everything on site bar food and the evening barn dance. Food is sorted separately by vendors selling hot meals, street food and sweet treats, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, though you can't bring your own food or drink in. The fair runs 10:30am to 5pm, giving you a full day of it, and parking on site is free.

If you fancy staying on, the Barn Dance runs 7pm to 11pm for £10 and includes live music, with overnight parking thrown in if you want to leave the car. Do bear in mind tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. The ground is a mix of gravel tracks and uneven field, with some inclines, which is fine for most but worth knowing if you've got a buggy or a wheelchair user in the group; there's blue badge parking and an accessible toilet on site.

Ages three and up get the most from it, since a lot of the appeal is watching demonstrations and handling animals rather than anything designed for babies. Outside of the fair, the farm isn't open for casual visits at all, so this really is a mark-it-in-the-diary sort of day rather than a spontaneous one.

Plan your visit

When is it on?

Once a year, the second Saturday of August. The 2026 date is Saturday 8th August, and 2027 is already pencilled in for Saturday 14th August.

How much are tickets?

£8 for an adult and £5 for a child at the Country Fair. The Barn Dance in the evening is a separate £10 ticket.

What does the ticket actually cover?

Entry, tractor trailer rides, countryside demonstrations, farmer Q&As, livestock and machinery displays, animal encounters and circus workshops. Food, drink and the barn dance are extra.

Can we just visit the farm on a normal day?

No, it's not open to the public outside events. Visits are by appointment or on the Country Fair and Barn Dance dates only.

Is there food on site?

Several vendors sell hot meals, street food and sweet treats, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. You can't bring your own food or alcohol in.

Is it OK for a toddler?

The site lists a minimum age of 3, and the terrain is gravel tracks and field with some inclines, so it suits kids old enough to walk it themselves.

Is there parking?

Ample free parking on site, plus blue badge parking. Barn Dance tickets include overnight parking if you leave the car.

Can I get a refund if plans change?

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, though ticket insurance is available separately that may allow a claim.
