What it’s like

A working farm day out with go-carts, zorbing, tractor rides and an animal barn to fill a whole day, not just an hour.

There's a lot packed into one ticket here. Little ones can dig in the JCB sandpit or ride the pig cars with bumpers, while older kids head for the go-carts, zorbs and the climbing wall. In between there's a tractor ride round the farm, a boating lake, and an animal discovery barn with talks and shows, plus meerkats and a monkey and reptile house if the queue for the sandpit gets too much.

The soft play barn runs open access rather than timed slots, which is handy if your day doesn't fit neatly into an hour, though you'll need socks for it. Peak times, 9am to noon, mean queuing even if you've booked online, so if you can get there for opening or drift in after lunch you'll have an easier time of it. Booking's recommended rather than required, but they're upfront that they can't promise same-day admission on weekends and school holidays if you just turn up.

It isn't cheap. High peak season puts a family of four at just over £70, and even low peak is £54.91 for two adults and two kids. There's a cheaper £6 late entry after 3:30pm if you only want a couple of hours, which is worth knowing if you're local or just fancy the animal barn and a go on the crazy golf without paying full whack. Parking's free at least, and you can bring your own picnic rather than buying everything on site, though there's no outside food delivered in.

Wet weather is the one thing to watch. Some of the outdoor attractions close in bad weather and over winter, so a rainy day visit might mean the soft play barn and animal barn carry more of the day than you planned.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

£17.95 for an adult and £18.95 for a child at high peak, dropping to £13.95 and £14.95 at low peak. A family of four works out at £70.11 in high season or £54.91 in low season, and under-2s go free.

Do we need to book?

Booking's recommended, especially weekends and school holidays, since they can't guarantee same-day admission if you walk up. You'll still likely queue between 9am and noon even with a ticket booked.

Is there a cheaper option for a shorter visit?

Late entry after 3:30pm is £6, which suits a quick after-school or after-nap trip better than a full-price ticket.

What age is it suitable for?

Admission covers ages 2 to 16, with under-2s free. There's a Little Farmers' area with toddler equipment alongside bigger stuff like go-carts and the climbing wall for older ones.

Is parking free?

Yes, parking on site is free.

What's the soft play barn like?

It's open daily 9am to 5.30pm and runs as open access rather than timed sessions, so there's no clock ticking once you're in. Socks are compulsory to avoid friction burns.

Can we bring our own food?

Home-made picnics are welcome on site, though they don't allow outside food deliveries or takeaways. There's also the Clover Café, Meadows Restaurant and a farm shop selling locally sourced food if you'd rather not carry a picnic round.

Is it OK for buggies and wheelchairs?

Prams, buggies and wheelchairs are all welcome around the park.

Can we bring the dog?

Only trained assistance dogs, for the safety of the animals.

Do you do birthday parties?

From £19.95 per child, including an all-day stay, a party host and party food.

What happens if it rains?

Some outdoor attractions close in bad weather and over winter months, so a wet visit leans more on the soft play barn and animal barn.

When is Puxton Park open?

Every day 9am to 5.30pm except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. On the annual Fireworks night it closes at 4pm.
