What it’s like
A working organic garden near Coventry where you wander veg beds, a glasshouse, ponds and container displays on a booked tour.
This is a proper growing garden rather than a manicured show one. The main event is a four-bed vegetable garden wrapped round a glasshouse, so you get to see what's actually cropping that month rather than a static display. There's a container garden for anyone short on space at home, an ornamental garden that shows what thrives in full sun versus shade, and a few ponds planted up to be good for wildlife rather than just decorative.
It suits anyone who gardens, wants to start, or just likes wandering somewhere green with a bit of purpose to it. There's no age guidance given, so use your own judgement on whether a small child will want to look at vegetable beds for an hour, but the ponds and container garden give younger ones something to actually point at.
A tour costs £5 if you're not a member, and members get in free, which matters if you think you'll come back. Booking is required, there's no online link. It's open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and the whole site is wheelchair accessible. Dogs aren't allowed in unless they're guide dogs, so leave the family dog at home for this one.
