Gardens & Arboretums in Coventry
Two proper gardens to choose from here, and they suit different moods. Garden Organic in Coventry is the closer option, a working organic garden with veg beds, a glasshouse, ponds and container displays, seen on a booked tour from £5. Out at Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa, it costs nothing to get in, and you get a lake full of ducks, flowerbeds and sculptures to wander past, plus a play area in Mill Gardens for the kids to run about in. If you want free and open-ended, Jephson Gardens wins, and its play area makes it the better bet for toddlers who need somewhere to burn off a bit of steam between flowerbeds. If you fancy something more structured, with a look at how food actually gets grown, book onto Garden Organic instead, bearing in mind you do need to book ahead rather than just turning up. Both are outdoor and both have wheelchair access, so a dry day is really the only thing to plan around.
