Country Parks & Nature Reserves in Coventry

Coventry has a couple of free reserves close in, both good for a wander rather than a big day out. Brandon Reach Nature Reserve is free, has bike parking and is wheelchair accessible, and rewards a slow walk with a chance of spotting a woodpecker, a grass snake or spring bluebells. Claybrookes Marsh Nature Reserve is also free, with flat trails that suit pushchairs from March to September, though it turns muddy in winter. For something further out, Newbold Quarry Nature Reserve is a drive out to Rugby, worth it in spring when the breeding toads are about. If your kids are small, stick to Claybrookes Marsh for the flat paths, or Brandon Reach if you want dogs and bikes along too. All three are free to visit, so the only real choice is how far you want to drive and what time of year suits the wildlife you are after.
