What it’s like
A card and tabletop games shop where you can drop in for Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh! or a learn-to-play session most days of the week.
This is a games shop built around a table more than a till. Through the week there's a proper run of sessions: Yu-Gi-Oh! casual play and tournaments on Wednesdays from 5pm, Magic: The Gathering commander games on Fridays from 6pm, trading card games and battles on Saturday afternoons, and a learn-to-play session every Sunday from 2 to 4pm if your child has never picked up a deck before.
That Sunday slot is the one to start with. It's aimed at teaching board games, trading card games and card games from scratch, so you don't need to know the rules of Magic yourself to bring a curious ten-year-old along. The rest of the week is more for kids who already know their commander deck from their Yu-Gi-Oh! deck and want somewhere to actually play, rather than just buy packs and leave.
Hours are a bit particular: closed Monday and Tuesday, open midday to 6 on Wednesday to Friday, 10 to 6 on Saturday, and a shorter 11 to 4 window on Sunday which covers the learn-to-play session. There's no booking link listed.
Parking in Consett is free wherever you land: behind Middle Street gives you three hours in the day and no limit after 6pm, the bus station car park gives two hours, and Gibson Street has no time limit at all, which is handy if a Friday commander game runs long.
