What it’s like
Two themed escape rooms in Fargo Village, Prison Break and a Horrible Histories one, with an hour on the clock to crack them.
You get an hour locked in with a puzzle, not a script. Escape Live Coventry runs two rooms worth knowing about here: a Prison Break scenario and a Horrible Histories one built round themed artefacts, which is the more obvious pick if you've got a Terry Deary fan in the group. Either way it's an hour of proper escape room stuff, codes, hidden bits, the lot, rather than anything gentle.
It's not really one for younger kids. The site itself says under-10s can find parts of it tricky, and anyone under 16 has to be with a paying adult who's part of the group, so this is one for the older end, tweens and up who fancy a challenge with their parents rather than a toddler outing. A room holds up to seven comfortably, which is worth bearing in mind if it's a birthday group and you're over that number.
Budget an hour and a half door to door even though the game itself is 60 minutes, and don't turn up early expecting to get straight in, they only want you there 10 minutes before your slot. Fargo Village has a coffee shop and a bar and restaurant on site if you're early or killing time after, which is handy since there's nowhere obvious to sit and wait inside. Parking's free after 6pm on weekdays and all weekend, but daytime bookings mean street parking or the Fargo Village car park at £2 for two hours, a small sting if you're doing a Saturday morning slot.
The cancellation policy is the one to read properly. No refunds at all if you cancel, gift vouchers included, and rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice costs £20. Turn up late and they'll still try to get you in, but your hour gets shorter by however late you are, so it pays to leave more time than you think for parking and finding the door.
