What it’s like

Locked-room puzzle solving for groups of two to six, with an hour on the clock and an outdoor City Hunt option too.

You and your team get shut in a themed room and have sixty minutes to find clues, crack codes and get yourselves out before the clock runs down. It suits teenagers and adults who fancy a proper puzzle challenge rather than a soft play afternoon, since the minimum age is eight and under-16s need an adult with them. Games masters watch on CCTV throughout, so nobody's actually trapped, but the pressure's real enough while you're in there.

Budget for around 90 minutes all told: 15 minutes doing waivers and getting briefed, an hour in the room, then time in the lounge and bar afterwards for photos and gloating rights. Prices drop the more of you play, from £30 a head for two players down to £21 each for a full team of six, so it's worth rounding up mates rather than going as a pair. If you fancy something outdoors instead, City Hunt sends you round Glasgow itself on a puzzle trail lasting an hour and a half to two hours, at £15 a player, though it gets called off in genuinely bad weather (light rain gets you a poncho, not a cancellation).

Birthday parties run for groups of up to twelve, with an after-school slot Monday to Thursday at £20 a head for ages 8 to 16, or £30 a head at other times. Get a group of ten or more and the birthday child goes free. It's card only here, so leave the cash at home, and there are no refunds if someone in your group doesn't show, which stings a bit if your numbers are shaky.

Many of the rooms are built to take up to two wheelchair users at once, and a registered carer supporting a player gets in free. It's a two-minute stroll from St Enoch Subway and not far from Buchanan Bus Station.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

It depends on group size. £30 a head for two players down to £21 each for six, and City Hunt is a flat £15 per player.

How long does a game take?

About 90 minutes in total. That's 15 minutes of prep and waivers, an hour in the room, then some time to hang around in the lounge afterwards.

Is it OK for younger kids?

The minimum age is eight, and anyone under 16 needs an adult in the room with them. This isn't built with toddlers or young children in mind.

Do we need to book?

There's a booking link for choosing your date, time and group size, and given the room sizes are capped it makes sense to sort this ahead of turning up.

Can we pay by cash?

Card only, no cash accepted.

What happens if someone in our group cancels?

There are no refunds if someone doesn't turn up, so it's worth chasing your group to confirm before you book.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

Many of the rooms are designed to take up to two wheelchair users at once, and a registered carer supporting a player gets in free.

What's City Hunt?

An outdoor puzzle trail through Glasgow lasting an hour and a half to two hours, £15 a player. It can be cancelled in severe weather, though light rain just gets you a poncho.

Can we do a birthday party there?

Yes, for up to twelve people. There's a Monday to Thursday after-school rate of £20 a head for ages 8 to 16, or £30 a head at other times, and the birthday child goes free with a group of ten or more.

How do we get there without driving?

St Enoch Subway station is right outside, Buchanan Bus Station is about a ten minute walk, and dozens of bus routes pass through the centre nearby.
