What it’s like
Sixty minutes to crack puzzles and escape a themed room, with three storylines pitched at different nerve levels.
You book a room, a Games Master briefs you, then you've got sixty minutes to find the clues and get out before the clock runs down. There are three games to pick from: Magician's Heist, which takes up to 8 players and is the one they use for parties, Stuck in the 90's for up to 5, and The Ghost of Mary Queen of Scots, which is rated 5 out of 5 for difficulty and only takes 2 to 6. If you've got a big group and want to split the difficulty, that's worth knowing before you pick.
It's billed as a 90 minute slot even though the room itself only takes an hour, because they build in time either side to brief you and chat afterwards. Turn up on time or the game starts without you, or your hour gets shaved down to fit the schedule, which feels harsh but is fair enough given how these things run on a strict timetable. Under 10s will likely struggle with the puzzles unaided, and anyone under 16 needs an adult with them, though for birthday parties aged 10 to 15 the Games Master actually helps them through it as a guided escape instead.
Prices scale with group size, from £60 for two players up to £160 for eight, and your booking is private so nobody else gets shoved into your room even if you're a small group in an eight-person space. It's in a listed building reached by a staircase, so there's no wheelchair access, worth flagging if that matters to your group. Parking outside is metered on weekdays but free evenings and weekends, and it's a short walk from Charing Cross station if you fancy leaving the car altogether.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
It's priced per group rather than per head: £60 for two players, rising to £160 for eight. A family of four would pay £92 for the room.
Do we need to book in advance?
Yes, bookings need to be made ahead of time. Last-minute slots sometimes open up from cancellations, so it's worth calling if you're stuck for a date.
How long does it actually take?
You're given a 90 minute slot in total, but the escape room itself is a 60 minute puzzle. The extra half hour covers your briefing and a chat afterwards.
Is it suitable for younger children?
There's no strict age limit, but under 10s tend to find the puzzles tough without help. Anyone under 16 has to be with an adult, and for birthday parties aged 10 to 15 the Games Master guides them through it specially.
Can we have a birthday party here?
Parties are regularly run in the Magician's Heist room, which holds up to 8 children. An accompanying adult doesn't need a ticket and can watch from reception with headphones and an iPad instead of sitting in the room.
What if my group is bigger than one room holds?
You can book more than one room at the same time, or book Magician's Heist alongside Stuck in the 90's if you've got more than 8 children for a party.
What happens if we're late?
The games run on a strict schedule, so a late arrival means either starting without you or losing time off your hour. Aim to get there 5 minutes early to be briefed properly.
Is parking available?
There's metered on-street parking outside during weekdays, but it's free in the evenings and at weekends.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
It's in a listed building that's only reached by a staircase, so there's no wheelchair access.
Is our escape room private to our group?
It's just your booking in the room, even if you're a small group in a room that holds more.
How do we get there by public transport?
It's about an 8 minute walk from Charing Cross train station or 15 minutes from Kelvinbridge Underground.
