What it’s like

A 60-minute puzzle room to crack together, best saved for kids who are ten and up and can handle a proper challenge.

This is one for the older kids, not the toddlers. You get 60 minutes on the clock to solve the puzzles and find your way out, with a briefing before and a debrief after, so the whole visit runs to about an hour and a half. Teams of three to five are what they reckon works best, though they'll take up to six, and bigger groups of up to twelve can be sorted with notice.

The site is upfront that the puzzles may be too demanding for under-tens, and anyone under 16 has to have an adult in the room with them. That second rule is worth knowing before you plan a birthday party split by age, because you can't just drop the younger cousins in with a babysitter outside.

It's a basement venue a short walk from Glasgow Central, Queen Street and Buchanan Street bus station, so if you're coming in by train or bus you're looking at five to ten minutes on foot. Driving is more of a faff. On-street parking outside is capped at two hours, which is cutting it fine once you add the walk and the briefing, so the subway's Park and Ride is the better shout if you've got a car.

One genuine downside: the accessible lift is currently out of order, which matters given the room is in the basement. They say they can help with hearing or visual impairments and have worked with all sorts of access needs before, but it's worth a call ahead if that's you rather than turning up and hoping.

Plan your visit

What age is this suitable for?

There's no strict age limit, but they say the puzzles may be too demanding for under-tens. Anyone under 16 needs an adult in the room with them.

How long does a visit take?

The game itself is 60 minutes, but with the briefing and debrief you're looking at about an hour and a half in total.

How many people can play?

Two is the minimum for most games and six the maximum, with three to five recommended. Bigger groups of up to twelve can be accommodated with notice.

Is there parking nearby?

There are city centre car parks and on-street parking right outside, but the on-street spaces are limited to two hours. They suggest the subway's Park and Ride as a cheaper option if you're driving in.

Is it accessible for wheelchair users?

It's a basement venue and the accessible lift is currently out of order. They can accommodate hard of hearing and visual impairments with individual advice, so it's best to call ahead if you have specific access needs.
