WHERE

Edinburgh

What it’s like

A caravan and motorhome site with a playground and on-site golf, where under-fives stay free and dogs don't cost a penny.

This is a pitch-up base rather than a day out in itself, but there's enough here to keep kids busy between trips into town. There's a play area and playground on site, plus golf if the grown-ups fancy a round while someone else watches the tent. It's the sort of site where the kids disappear to the play area for an hour and you actually get to put your feet up.

The pricing is the nice surprise: kids aged 5 to 17 are £1, and under-5s stay completely free. Dogs stay free too, so there's no reason to leave the family pet behind. If you're bringing a barbecue, charcoal, gas and electric ones are all allowed, which covers most people's kit.

Toilets, wifi and bike parking are all on site, and it's wheelchair accessible if that matters for your group. One thing to flag for anyone booking ahead: from October 2025, bookings that include nights from 24 July 2026 onwards will have Edinburgh's Visitor Levy added, a 5% surcharge plus VAT on the first five nights. It won't affect anyone visiting before then, but it's worth knowing if you're planning a summer 2026 trip early.
