Craufurdland Activities & TreeTop Trials
BEST FOR
Ages 5+
WHERE
Kilmarnock
What it’s like
High ropes, archery and bushcraft in the trees, with a proper restaurant for afterwards.
This one's built around the Tree Top Trials course, and the Pioneer session runs 1.5 to 1.75 hours, which is about right before arms give out. Beyond the ropes there's archery, crate stacking (harder than it sounds, apparently), a mud run and fishing, so a group can mix it up rather than doing one thing on repeat.
Five is the minimum age, which rules out toddlers but makes sense once you picture the height of some of those platforms. It suits a school-age kid who wants a proper physical challenge rather than a soft play wander, and older siblings will probably claim the mud run as theirs.
Parties are a slightly different offer here. The private Tree Top Trials sessions need everyone to be 15 or over, so this is one for older birthday groups rather than a five-year-old's do, though there are food party bags on request and a forest tent you can hire if you want the whole thing under canvas.
Food is handled properly too. The Laird's Table restaurant on site is described as award-winning with a decent stretch of catering options, so you're not relying on a vending machine after two hours on a rope course.
