What it’s like

Beginner climbing sessions and dry tooling under one roof, with kids' climbing parties if you want the walls for a birthday.

This is a proper climbing centre rather than a soft play with a wall bolted on. The site lists supervised climbing sessions aimed at beginners, so a kid who's never touched a harness isn't going to be out of place, and dry tooling is on the list too if yours has done a bit of climbing already and fancies something a step on from the usual routes.

Birthday parties are a thing here, which makes sense once you picture a group of kids taking turns on the wall while the rest queue up cheering, and it beats another soft play session for a ten-year-old who's bored of ball pits. The café does sandwiches, soups, daily specials and cakes, with a brunch menu and an evening one too, so you're not stuck eating out of a vending machine while you wait.

Hours are generous. Weekdays it's open from 10am right to 10pm, which gives you room to go after school without a scramble, and weekends run 9am to 6pm if you want to make a morning of it. There's wifi if you're the parent sat with a coffee rather than the parent on the wall.
