What it’s like

Free drop-in sessions for babies and toddlers, plus Lego Fun for the older ones, in a library with no fixed session times to rush for.

Bookbug sessions are the reason to know about this one if you've got a baby or toddler: songs, rhymes and stories, free to turn up to, no booking link to wrestle with. There's Lego Fun on offer too, which buys you a good half hour of quiet if your child is the building type rather than the running-about type.

It's free entry across the board, which counts for a lot when a soft play down the road wants £8 a head. There's wifi and indoor seating if you want to sit and let a toddler potter about the shelves, and toilets on site so you're not caught out mid-visit.

Opening hours shift about through the week: 10 til 5 on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but 1 til 8 on Monday and Wednesday, so it's worth glancing at which day you're going before you turn up expecting an evening slot on a Tuesday. There's no on-site parking, which is the obvious catch if you're coming any distance.

One thing to flag if you need it: the accessible lift is currently out of order, so if you or your pushchair need step-free access to the upper floor, this isn't the day for it. Dogs are assistance animals only.

Plan your visit

Is it free to get in?

Yes, entry is free. Bookbug and Lego Fun sessions don't cost anything either.

Do we need to book Bookbug or Lego Fun?

There's no booking link listed, so it looks like a turn-up-and-join-in setup.

What are the opening hours?

10am to 5pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Monday and Wednesday it's 1pm to 8pm instead, so check which day you're going.

Is there parking?

No on-site parking, so you'll need to find a space nearby or come on foot.

Can we bring the dog?

Assistance dogs only, other animals aren't permitted in the building.

Is it accessible with a pushchair or wheelchair?

The accessible lift is currently out of order, so step-free access to the upper floor isn't possible right now. Some Glasgow Life venues have wheelchairs to borrow free of charge, worth asking about on arrival.
