What it’s like

A 25m pool, a toddler pool, a soft play maze and a climbing wall under one roof, each charged separately.

There's a proper 25m pool here alongside a toddler pool, so you can have a five-year-old attempting lengths while a baby paddles about in the shallow end. Under 5s swim for £1, which is about as fair as pool pricing gets, and a family ticket for two adults and two juniors comes to £16.20. The pool keeps odd hours through the week, split into a daytime block and a later evening slot on most days.

For the smaller ones there's the Snappy Play Area, ball pools, slides, cargo nets and winding tunnels, with its own baby corner away from the bigger kids. It's £3 for up to 60 minutes and last entry is an hour before closing, so a late-afternoon dash won't get you the full session. If you've got an older child after more of a challenge, the climbing wall runs 90-minute sessions, £5.30 for juniors and teens, £7.50 for adults, though last entry there is 45 minutes before close, a different cut-off to the play area that's easy to get muddled.

There's badminton, squash, short tennis and table tennis if anyone fancies a proper knock about, plus junior gym classes for teens. Once a month, the last Friday of the month, there's a disco inflatable session in the pool, the sort of thing an eight-year-old will remind you about for weeks beforehand. The café runs through the day for a coffee while someone else has a go on the wall.

Access is properly sorted: a pool hoist, waterproof wheelchairs, step-free access throughout and an accessible toilet. Birthday parties run through the centre, booked separately from a normal visit. With the pool, play area and climbing wall all keeping different hours and different last-entry times, it's the one place where checking the clock before you go actually pays off.

How much does it cost?

Swimming is £6 for adults, £4.20 for juniors and teens, and £1 for under 5s. A family ticket for two adults and two juniors is £16.20. The Snappy Play Area is £3 for up to an hour, and the climbing wall is £7.50 adult or £5.30 junior for a 90 minute session.

Do we need to book?

There's no booking link given, so it's likely a turn-up-and-pay setup at reception for most sessions.

What are the swimming pool hours?

They vary by day, with a daytime block most weekdays and a later evening session too. Weekends are shorter, 8am to 5pm.

Is there a toddler pool?

Yes, alongside the 25m main pool, so smaller kids have somewhere shallower to paddle.

How long can we stay in the Snappy Play Area?

Sessions run up to 60 minutes, with last entry an hour before the area closes.

What about the climbing wall?

Sessions last 90 minutes, but last entry is 45 minutes before closing, which is a different cut-off to the play area.

Is there food on site?

There's a café open through the day, weekdays 10:30am to 6pm and weekends 10am to 4pm.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

There's a pool hoist, waterproof wheelchairs and step-free access throughout, plus an accessible toilet.

Can we bring a dog?

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.

Do you do birthday parties?

Parties are run through the centre, booked as a separate thing from a normal visit.

Is there anything for teenagers?

There are junior gym classes and racquet sports like badminton, squash and table tennis, plus a teen rate on most activities.

Is there a special session for kids?

Once a month, the last Friday, there's a disco inflatable session in the pool.
