Museums in Norwich

Norwich has a proper mix of small, specific museums rather than one big draw. Seething Control Tower Museum sits just outside the city and is free to visit, with a wartime airfield control tower open on select Sundays. The Norfolk Tank Museum, also close by, lets kids climb into a real Chieftain tank turret and ride a BV206 over an off-road course, tickets from £9.50. Out at Wymondham, the Heritage Museum has a recreated dungeon in the basement and is suited to ages 5 and up. For toddlers, Sheringham Town Museum is the gentler option, ages 0 and up, from £3, with a climb up its lighthouse-style tower for older kids who fancy the view. The Museum of the Broads, just outside Norwich, suits ages 5 to 17 and mixes knot-tying and dress-up with real boat trips, from £9.50. If a longer trip suits your day, East Anglia Transport Museum in Lowestoft has vintage trams and trolleybuses you actually ride around the grounds.
