Parks & Playgrounds in Glasgow
Glasgow does well for free green space, and the two here show it. Glasgow Botanic Gardens, about three kilometres from the centre, has glasshouses to duck into and West End lawns for a picnic, no charge to get in. A bit further out, Pollok Country Park has woodland trails, highland cattle and the Burrell right there, plus toilets, parking and a cafe if you need them. Both are free and outdoors, so the choice comes down to what sort of day you fancy. The Botanic Gardens suits a shorter visit, somewhere to wander before lunch in the West End. Pollok Country Park is the one to set aside a proper chunk of the day for, with more ground to cover and food on site if you forget the sandwiches. Neither has a soft play area, so pack layers if the weather turns, this being Glasgow.
