Walk and Draw

An 18+ drop-in drawing workshop at The New Art Gallery Walsall, every second Saturday, 11am-12.30pm.

This is an 18+ event led by artist Al Fawson, making fast, fun sketches around The New Art Gallery Walsall. Each session has a different focus, taking in artworks from the Collections and temporary exhibitions, the gallery's architecture, the views from its windows, and the local area including canal wildlife, public sculptures and historical buildings on the high street. You can book onto one session or all of them, as the focus changes monthly and there's no need to attend every time. No drawing experience is needed and all materials are provided. The sessions build in the five Ways to Wellbeing (take notice, be active, learn, connect and give), and are accessible for mobility scooters and wheelchair users. Wear suitable clothing and bring an umbrella in case the group heads outside. It's free to attend but booking is essential as places are limited, either at reception, by calling 01922 654400 or by emailing alex.jolly@walsall.gov.uk. Upcoming 2026 dates are 10 January, 7 February, 14 March, 11 April, 9 May, 13 June, 11 July, 8 August, 12 September, 10 October, 14 November and 12 December, running 11am to 12.30pm each time.
