Farms & Petting Farms in Edinburgh

Edinburgh has a good spread of farms close to the centre. Lauriston Farm is free to get into and lets kids join a tour or just tramp about the fields, while Swanston Farm has school groups meeting hens, goats and Highland Cows on guided tours. Out at Queensferry, Craigies Little Farmers charges from £5 and has a play barn for when the weather turns, plus goats, Highland coos and Shetland ponies to feed. For something different, BobCat Alpacas in Edinburgh lets you lead an alpaca on a proper walk from £30, and Wee Eden out in West Calder does the same for less at £10, with a bring your own picnic afterwards. Toddlers will do best at Lauriston or Craigies, both outdoor with easy feeding. If you fancy a longer trip out to Cupar, Cairnie Fruit Farm has a six-acre maize maze and a Funyard for kids aged three and up, with free parking and an on-site cafe.
