Splash Parks & Paddling Pools in Cardiff

Cardiff doesn't have a splash park right in the centre, but there are options within reach. Out at Barry, Pencoedtre Park has a free splash pad alongside a skate park, toddler area and games court, with parking on site. A longer trip out to Weston-super-Mare gets you an outdoor splash park with water features for a couple of quid, ages 1 to 12, open 10am to 5pm daily with unlimited entry once you're in. For the free option, Pencoedtre in Barry is hard to beat, and the mix of splash pad and skate park means older siblings have something too. If you want proper swimming as well as play, the National Lido of Wales in Pontypridd has three heated outdoor pools plus a play park with slides, swings and tunnels for afterwards, and there's a cafe on site. Weston-super-Mare suits a full day trip rather than an after-school dash, given the distance. Toddlers do best at Barry or Weston; older kids will get more from the lido's pools.
