Aquariums & Sea Life in Sheffield

There's no big aquarium in Sheffield itself, so this is more about tank-browsing than a full day out, unless you fancy a longer trip. Pet Station in Rotherham is free to wander, with guinea pigs, hamsters, fish tanks and even iguanas to spot. Wentworth Garden Centre, also in Rotherham, is free too, with a family farm, adventure playground and a pets and aquatics centre alongside the plants. For proper tanks of tropical and marine fish, there's a longer trip out to Ferrybridge Aquatics in Knottingley, or further still to Swell UK in Hyde. If you want the real aquarium experience, sharks, turtles, rays and an ocean tunnel, that means a longer trip to SEA LIFE Manchester, next to the Trafford Centre, from £16 and fully indoors for a rainy day. For toddlers, the free garden centre and pet shop visits are easier going and cost nothing. Older kids who fancy something bigger will get more from the proper aquarium, parking included.
