What it’s like

A fish shop and aquarium browse with around 500 species on show, good for a quiet wander rather than a big day out.

This one is more of a browse than an attraction. The draw is the sheer number of fish on show, they say around 500 species, which is one of the biggest selections going, so if your kids are into spotting different fish rather than touch pools and feeding shows, this is the place to point them at tank after tank and see how many they can name.

There's no big ticket price to factor in here since it works more like a specialist shop than a paid attraction, so you can pop in for twenty minutes or stay longer if the tanks hold their attention. It's wheelchair friendly, which also means buggies should be fine getting round.

Worth knowing before you plan a trip round it: they're closed all day Wednesday, which catches people out. Otherwise it's open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until half four, and Friday and Saturday until 5pm, so a weekend afternoon gives you the longest window.

If you end up chatting to staff, they also sell RO and salt water and frozen fish food by weight, which tells you this is as much a working aquatics shop as somewhere to visit, so don't expect a gift shop or a café bolted on.
