What it’s like

A pet shop where kids can wander past guinea pigs, hamsters, fish tanks and even iguanas for free.

This is a proper browse-round pet shop rather than a big attraction, and that's no bad thing on a wet afternoon when you just need somewhere to fill an hour without paying for the privilege. Small kids will make a beeline for the guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils, and there are rabbits to look at too if that's more their speed. The fish tanks are worth a slow lap on their own, and the exotic corner with lizards and iguanas is the bit that'll get the most excited pointing.

There's no ticket and no booking, you just turn up during opening hours and have a look round. It closes all day Tuesday, which is easy to forget if that's your usual day off, and Sunday hours are shorter than the rest of the week, so a Sunday afternoon plan needs an earlier start. Parking is free on site, which takes one bit of stress out of a spontaneous visit.

It won't fill a whole day out, and there's nothing here in the way of play areas or rides, it's animals and aquatics to look at and shop for. If you've got a toddler who just wants to point at hamsters and a fish tank to stare into, that's really the whole visit, and it's a decent free add-on if you're already in the area rather than a destination in its own right.
