What it’s like

A small animal park where you can feed rabbits and goats, then let the kids loose on a big playground with a tractor to climb.

The main draw here is hands-on: feeding rabbits, gerbils, emus and goats, then heading into the Cuddle Corner to handle the baby animals. That last bit is the one to save until they've settled in, since it tends to be the highlight of the visit and the queue can build once word gets round the playground.

After the animals there's a large playground with a tractor, swings and a Wendy house, which buys you a good chunk of extra time before anyone's ready to leave. At £5 for both adults and children it's simple pricing at least, no faffing about with different age bands to work out at the till.

It's open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30am to 4pm, with last entry at 3:30pm, so you're not getting a long evening session out of it but a solid few hours works well. During school holidays it opens all seven days, which is handy if you're filling a week off with somewhere that doesn't need much planning. Ages one to sixteen are listed.

It shuts on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, otherwise it's a fairly reliable year-round option rather than a fair-weather one.
