What it’s like
A proper stand-up comedy venue in Edinburgh with pew and gallery seating, strictly for teens 14 and up rather than younger kids.
This is comedy for the older end of the family, not a kids' venue in any sense. The age listing starts at 14, so if you're thinking of taking a teenager to see a big name like Caitlin Moran or Mike Wozniak, this is where it happens, but younger children are a no.
Tickets for the shows on their books run from around £26.75 up to £40.50 for a premium bundle that throws in a book, so it's not a cheap night out even before you think about drinks at the bar. Seating is unreserved on a lot of shows, which sounds worrying but just means you're standing unless you fancy one of the wooden pews downstairs or a gallery seat when it's open. Worth knowing the pews are down a small step and there's no step-free route up to the gallery, so factor that in if anyone in your group needs level access.
Get there early if you can. Doors to the foyer and bar open an hour before the show, with the auditorium itself opening about half an hour before that. One thing to flag for a teenager who might not clock it themselves: no personal alcohol is allowed in, and it gets confiscated on the door if you try, so that bottle from the corner shop needs to stay in the bag or at home.
It's also gone fully cashless from April 2026, card or phone only, so leave the coins at home and make sure whoever's paying has a working contactless card or a phone that'll tap.

Plan your visit
How old do you need to be to come to a show?
The listed shows start at age 14, so this isn't one for younger children.
Do we need to book ahead?
Many shows sell out, so turning up on the night is a gamble. If there are tickets left, the Box Office sells them on the door.
What time should we arrive?
The bar and foyer open an hour before the show, with the auditorium doors usually opening around 30 minutes before that. Getting there early gives you time for a drink before you're called in.
Can we bring our own drinks?
No personal alcohol is allowed on the premises and it'll be confiscated at the door. Even soft drink cans might get taken off you depending on the show.
How do we pay for tickets or drinks?
Card, phone or a smartwatch only from April 2026, no cash. Worth checking your card works before you queue at the bar.
