What it’s like

A Basement cinema and youth zone hosting movie and gaming birthday parties, plus a weekday youth club for 11 to 16 year olds.

The parties happen in The Basement, a cinema and youth zone set up for movie or gaming sessions that run three hours long. They're only on Thursdays and Fridays, so if your child's birthday falls on a Saturday you'll need to shift the celebration to fit the venue rather than the other way round. Three hours is a proper stretch for a party too, long enough for a film and a game session without anyone getting restless.

Outside of parties, there's a youth club for 11 to 16 year olds running through the week, which suits the older end of the age range better than younger siblings tagging along. The building itself is fully accessible with lifts throughout, and there are two dedicated disabled parking spaces in the car park alongside ample parking on nearby Harlow Street.

Florrie Coffee, the café on site, only runs mornings into early afternoon on weekdays, so if you're booking an afternoon party don't expect to grab a coffee there while you wait. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome inside, and getting there by bus (routes 204 and 82) or Brunswick train station is straightforward if you're leaving the car at home.
