What it’s like
Indoor go-karting, laser tag and racing simulators under one roof, with a Bambino session for karters as young as four.
Racing is the main event here. Kids get kitted out in race suits over their own clothes and sent out on the indoor track, with closed toe shoes non-negotiable (trainers are fine, ballet slippers and flip flops are not). For the standard family races you need to be 8 and over and at least 125cm tall, but York also runs Bambino sessions for 4 to 8 year olds, which is the bit that makes this place work for a wider age group than most karting venues.
Laser tag is the other big draw, games run in 12 minute bursts, usually three per booking unless you've gone exclusive. It's open from age 6, though there's strobe lighting in the arenas so it's worth thinking twice if anyone in your group is sensitive to flickering lights. The racing simulators sit somewhere in between, technically open from 6 but they say the experience really suits 8 and up.
Under 16s need a responsible adult over 18 with them for the whole event. That adult doesn't have to race themselves, but they do have to stay on site, so don't plan on dropping the kids and running errands. Booking ahead is essential too, track space is limited per session and they're firm that walk-ups aren't guaranteed a slot.
There's a café on site doing pizzas and drinks, and they don't allow outside food (birthday cakes are the one exception). For a party, they'll take groups of 10 or more into themed party rooms for exclusive 1 to 3 hour bookings, which is long enough to fit in more than one activity if you want to mix karting with laser tag.

Plan your visit
How old do you need to be to race?
Standard family races need drivers to be 8 or over and at least 125cm tall. York also runs Bambino sessions for 4 to 8 year olds, which is worth asking about if you've got a younger karting fan.
Do I need to book ahead?
Booking is essential, track space is limited on every session and they don't guarantee walk-ins a spot.
Do parents have to stay with their child?
Anyone under 16 needs a responsible adult over 18 with them for the whole event. That adult doesn't need to race, but they can't leave the venue while the child does.
Can we bring our own food?
No outside food is allowed apart from birthday cakes for anyone celebrating. The café does pizzas, snacks and drinks instead.
What should we wear?
Race suits go on over your normal clothes, so wear whatever's comfortable underneath. Closed toe shoes are a must, trainers are the safe bet.
Can we do a birthday party there?
Parties need 10 or more children and get exclusive use of a themed party room for 1 to 3 hours.
