What it’s like

Indoor go-karting on a 500m multi-level track, plus mini golf and a Mini Racer session for younger kids.

This is proper racing, not the wobbly pedal-kart version. From 8 years old, kids get a race suit and helmet and take on a 500m multi-level indoor circuit that TeamSport describe as professionally designed, with single-seat karts and dedicated spectating areas so the rest of you can watch without needing to book anything. No driving licence needed, they'll talk newcomers through it before the first session.

The age and size rules are worth knowing before you promise anyone a race. Drivers need to be 8 or over with at least a 25 inch inside leg, and there's a recommended height cap of 1.6m for the cadet karts. If your child is younger, the Mini Racer experience covers ages 4 to 7 for kids between 1.0m and 1.4m tall, so a family with a mixed age range isn't automatically stuck watching from the sidelines. Under 16s always need an adult 18 or over with them, even if they're old enough to race solo.

There's a 9-hole indoor mini golf course with a motorsport theme if you want to fill time before or after a session, and it doubles as something to do while you wait if your slot isn't for a while yet. Food comes from an on-site kitchen and bar with vegetarian options, though outside food isn't allowed and it's card only, no cash. Booking is essential and you pay in full up front, and it's non-refundable and non-transferable, so check the date properly before you confirm.

Parking's free on site, which takes the edge off, and there's a bus link too if you're coming without a car. Access is only partial though: the lower level and spectator areas are wheelchair accessible but the upper level and bar aren't, which is a genuine gap if that affects your group.

Plan your visit

How old do kids need to be to race?

8 and above for the main karts, with at least a 25 inch inside leg. Ages 4 to 7 can do the Mini Racer experience instead if they're between 1.0m and 1.4m tall.

Do we need to book?

Booking is essential and you pay in full at the time to secure the slot. It's non-refundable and non-transferable, so be sure of your date before confirming.

Can my child race on their own?

Yes, from age 8 they can race solo, but anyone under 16 still needs an adult of 18 or over with them at the venue.

Can adults and kids race together?

There are family sessions where adults and children race together, but adults can't book onto those unless they've got a child racing with them.

What should we wear?

Trainers with the whole foot covered, no sandals or open shoes. They provide a race suit and helmet, and sell a reusable balaclava for £3.99 if you need one.

Is there parking?

Free parking on site, plus disabled parking near the entrance.

What about food?

There's an on-site kitchen and bar with vegetarian options, but you can't bring your own food in.

Can we just come and watch?

Spectating is free and you don't need to book, with dedicated viewing areas so you can keep an eye on younger drivers.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

Partially. The lower level and spectator areas are accessible but the upper level and bar aren't.

Do you do birthday parties?

They cater for birthday parties and group bookings with party rooms on site.
