What it’s like

Outdoor karting from age 6, with proper 50mph and 70mph racing for teens and adults once they've earned it.

This is a proper race circuit, not a birthday-party pootle around cones. Six and seven-year-olds start with a Bambino Induction or Practice on junior karts, then from 8 they move up to Junior Practice, and 12 to 15-year-olds can step up again to Junior Full Circuit Practice once they've got the hang of it. If your child fancies racing properly there's Cadet Race School for 8 to 11s and Junior Race School for 12 to 15s, both full days at £195, which is a serious spend but a serious amount of track time for it.

Once you're 14 the N35-ST karts open up, starting at £35 for a 20-minute practice and building through a Sprint Race, a D40 and even an hour of Unlimited Racing at £79. The real toy is the DMAX from age 16, hitting 70mph, but Daytona are firm that you start with a £75 practice session before they'll let you near a Sprint Race, D40 or the £150 hour of Unlimited Racing. It's not a place you turn up cold and jump in the fastest kart, and that's fair enough given the speeds involved.

For groups who want to make a day of it there's team endurance racing running to 3, 6 or even 24 hours, with the 3-hour version priced at £395 or £410 depending on the date. That's a big commitment for a family day out, but it's clearly built for corporate days and serious karting mates rather than a first-timer's afternoon.

There's a café and restaurant on site so you're not relying on vending machines between sessions, and free parking means you're not adding that on top of what are already fairly steep prices. It's just off the M42 at Junction 10, easy enough from the M6, M1 or A5, and if you're coming by train it's about a 10-minute taxi from Tamworth station.

Getting there by bus or train
Tamworth railway station approximately 10-minute taxi ride away
  • DMAX karts need a practice session under your belt first, even for confident teenage drivers

  • Team endurance races run to 3, 6 or 24 hours if you're organising a group event rather than a family visit

Plan your visit

What age can kids start karting here?

Six, with a Bambino Induction or Practice session on the junior circuit. From 8 they move onto Junior Practice, and 12 to 15s can try the Junior Full Circuit Practice.

How much does it cost?

Junior Practice from £49, Bambino sessions also £49 for a 20-minute practice or £95 for the 40-minute induction. Adult N35-ST starts at £35, DMAX practice is £75.

Can my teenager drive the fast DMAX karts?

Only from age 16, and they want you to have done a practice session at the track first before booking a Sprint Race, D40 or Unlimited Racing in a DMAX.

Is there a race school for kids who want to get serious?

Yes, Cadet Race School for 8 to 11s and Junior Race School for 12 to 15s, both £195 for a full day.

What if my child has never karted before?

Start with a practice session rather than a race. For kids aged 8 to 13 that's Junior Practice; for 6 and 7-year-olds it's the Bambino Induction or Practice.

Is there food on site?

There's a café and a restaurant, so you can eat between sessions rather than driving off to find lunch.

Is parking free?

Parking is free.

How do we get there without a car?

The nearest station is Tamworth, about a 10-minute taxi ride from the circuit.

Do you do birthday parties?

Party rooms and birthday parties are available on site.
