What it’s like

Indoor electric go-karting with a proper Mini Racer setup for 4 to 7 year olds and a motorsport-themed mini golf course too.

This is one for the family that fancies actual racing rather than a soft play with some slides bolted on. The standard karts need your child to be at least 1.2 metres tall with a 25 inch inside leg and eight years old, but the Mini Racers experience brings that down to age 4, with its own height band of 1.0 to 1.4 metres. There are family sessions too, where adults and kids race together, though grown-ups can't just turn up and race solo on those slots, they need a child with them. There's also a 9-hole indoor mini golf course done up in motorsport theme, handy if someone in your group is too small or too nervous for the karts.

Kit-wise, they give you a race suit and helmet, but you'll need to bring proper trainers that cover the whole foot and either your own balaclava or buy one there for £3.99. Jewellery has to come off and nothing goes under the helmet, so factor in a few extra minutes of faffing before anyone gets near a kart. Spectating is free and you don't need to book for it, so grandparents or younger siblings can watch from the bar area without you paying for them.

Booking ahead is essential rather than a nice-to-have, since space on each session is limited and they take full payment upfront to secure it. That payment is non-refundable and non-transferable too, which stings a bit if plans change last minute. It's a cashless venue, so leave the cash at home and bring a card, and you can't bring your own food in, though the on-site Fuel Bars do a proper menu with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options plus the usual soft drinks and milkshakes.

Parking's free on site, which is one less thing to think about in London, and there's disabled parking close to the entrance if you need it. Wheelchair access is only partial though, covering the main areas and spectator viewing rather than everywhere. If you're relying on public transport it's a bit of a trek, with the nearest tube or rail stations around half an hour's walk and buses about 15 minutes away.

Plan your visit

How old does my child need to be to race?

Standard karts need them to be at least 8, 1.2 metres tall and have a 25 inch inside leg. For 4 to 7 year olds there's the Mini Racers experience instead, with a 1.0 to 1.4 metre height band.

Do we need to book in advance?

Pre-booking is essential, they only have limited space on each session and take full payment at booking to secure it.

Can my child race without me?

Kids aged 8 and up can race solo if they want to. Anyone under 16 still needs an adult with them at the venue.

Can we race together as a family?

There are family sessions built for that, adults racing alongside their kids. Adults can't race on those sessions without a child alongside them.

What do we need to wear or bring?

They provide the race suit and helmet. You'll need trainers that fully cover your feet and a balaclava, which you can buy there for £3.99 if you don't bring your own.

Can we just come and watch?

Spectating is free and no booking needed, just turn up and watch from the bar area.

Is there parking?

Free parking on site, with disabled parking close to the entrance.

Can we bring our own food?

Outside food isn't allowed. The on-site Fuel Bars do a full menu including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options.

How do we pay?

Card only, it's a fully cashless venue and all bookings are non-refundable.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

Partial accessibility, covering the main areas and spectator viewing spaces, with accessible parking near the entrance.
