Strawberry Fields Farm Shop Buckfastleigh
WHERE
Buckfastleigh
What it’s like
A farm shop stop for homemade pies and pasties, a cream tea with proper Cornish clotted cream, and a pumpkin patch that takes over every October.
This is really a farm shop with a seasonal life of its own. Most of the year you're browsing homemade bread, award winning pies and pasties, and stopping for a cream tea made with their own strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream. It's more of a wander-and-browse stop than an activity, so don't expect much beyond an hour unless there's a season on.
October is when it properly comes alive. Pumpkin Fest brings a pumpkin patch, a maize maze, a barrel train and live shows, and Pumpkin Nights turns the same patch into something after dark with fire shows, magic and circus acts. If you've got kids who'd rather run around a maze than look at jam jars, that's the visit to time it for. Christmas gets its own trail too, with Father Christmas and elves for the smaller ones.
Worth knowing before you go: picking your own strawberries isn't an option here for 2026, so if that was the plan, it's off the table this year. Dogs are welcome on leads but only outside the shop itself, and the cafe and restaurant shut half an hour before the shop does, so don't leave the cream tea until the last minute.

Plan your visit
Do we need to book?
For the cafe or restaurant, they do advise booking, especially at weekends and school holidays. There's no booking mentioned for the shop or the seasonal events.
What can the kids actually do?
Outside of the seasonal events it's mainly a farm shop and cream tea stop. In October the pumpkin patch, maize maze and barrel train give them something proper to do.
What are the opening times?
Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm, Sundays 8am to 5:30pm. The cafe and restaurant close half an hour before that.
Can we bring the dog?
Yes, on a lead, but only in the outside areas rather than inside the farm shop.
Is pick your own strawberries still running?
Not for 2026, that option is closed.
