Strathclyde Country Park Campsite

What it’s like
A caravan and motorhome site by the country park, with a woodland walk and playground on the doorstep.
This is a pitch-up base rather than an attraction in itself, but it earns its keep. There's a woodland walk right there for stretching legs after a drive, a playground and a play area for younger children, so you don't have to pack the day with activities before anyone's even had a cup of tea.
Under 5s stay free and kids aged 5 to 17 are £1, which is about as painless as pricing gets. Booking takes a £5 fully refundable deposit, and you can cancel or amend up to 21 days before you arrive without losing it. Non-members can book online too, though there's a £15 per night supplement to pay on arrival if you're not signed up to the club.
Dogs stay for free, which is worth knowing if you're planning to bring one along on the woodland walk. There's wifi on site if you need to get online, wheelchair accessible toilets and inclusive bathrooms, and baby change facilities for anyone with a small one in tow. Picnics are allowed, so a packed lunch by the play area is a reasonable plan for an afternoon.
