What it’s like

Free book browsing and a toddler rhymetime session, with wifi and toilets on hand for a rainy Coventry morning.

There's a children's library here with a book collection that's handy for homework, so it's somewhere to point an eight-year-old stuck on a school project as much as somewhere to pick up a bedtime story. It doesn't cost anything to go in and browse, which makes it an easy one to add to a wet-day list without checking your wallet first.

For toddlers and pre-schoolers there's a rhymetime and stay and play session, the sort of thing that gets small kids up and moving and gives you a chance to talk to another adult for twenty minutes. Wifi's there if you need to get some work done while they play, and there are toilets on site.

Opening hours are a bit of a puzzle, worth writing down rather than guessing. It's open long days Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 7pm, a shorter Saturday from 9am to 4pm, and closed both Wednesday and Sunday. That midweek closure catches people out if you're used to libraries being open every day.
