What it’s like
Hands in the clay learning to throw on the wheel or coil a pot, with a deposit and a proper appointment needed first.
This is a proper pottery studio rather than a paint-your-own-mug session. Kids from five up get shown how to coil a pot and have a go on the potter's wheel, with sculpture and ceramics work on offer too. It's small and hands-on, which is nice, but it also means numbers are limited, so you can't just turn up with extra siblings on the day without checking first.
Booking is essential, and there's a non-refundable £20 deposit per person for a taster class (£30 if you fancy Raku). That stings a bit if plans change, though they'll happily move your date rather than pocket it and wave you off. A taster class runs £30 for a child and £60 for an adult, dropping to £25 and £32 once you're past the first session.
Anyone under 16 needs a responsible adult with them. If that adult isn't getting their hands dirty too, they're not charged for the privilege of supervising, which is a fair way to do it. Classes aren't tied to the same day or time every week, so if you've got shift patterns or a toddler's nap schedule to work round, they'll try to fit you in rather than forcing a fixed slot.
They also do group bookings for kids' parties and celebrations, either in the studio or bringing the equipment to you. Given the small, friendly setup, it's worth calling Stef directly to talk numbers before you get too attached to a date.
