What it’s like
Free book borrowing and computer access, plus a Digital and Performance Suite to try out.
Borrowing books here won't cost you a thing, and you can take out up to 12 at a time for three weeks, which is generous enough that nobody has to agonise over which two picture books make the cut. There's also free access to computers and wifi if you need to get online while you're there, and a Digital and Performance Suite that's a nice bit of extra to poke around in beyond the usual shelves.
The bit that'll actually save you money long term is the fines policy. Under-16s never get charged for overdue returns, so a book that's gone missing under the sofa for a fortnight past its date won't sting your wallet. If you're a bit more organised, the eLibrary lets you borrow up to 11 eBooks and eAudiobooks free of charge too, handy for topping up on the go without adding more paper to the pile at home.
None of this needs booking ahead. You just turn up, get a card if you haven't got one, and start borrowing.
