What it’s like
Free book borrowing and a homework club for school-age kids, with wifi and no overdue fines for under-16s.
A homework club runs here for school-age children, alongside the usual shelves of books to borrow for free. It is not a soft play or a splash pad, but if you've got a child who needs a quiet table and a bit of help after school, that's exactly what's on offer.
Borrowing is generous: up to 12 books for three weeks, and no cost either way. There's an eLibrary too, with up to 11 eBooks and eAudiobooks free of charge, useful if you'd rather not carry a stack home. The bit that actually matters for families is the fines policy: under-16s never get charged for overdue books, so a forgotten return date doesn't turn into a telling-off at the counter.
Wifi's available if you're working while your child reads or does homework nearby. There's no entry fee at all, which makes it an easy one to drop into on a whim rather than something you have to plan a whole day around.
