What it’s like

Kids get 45 minutes with full-on splatter or pour painting on a big canvas, guided the whole way through.

Forget neat little pots to paint here. This is splatter and pour art: kids get a 16x20 canvas and free rein with paints and tools, building something properly messy and properly theirs. A guide runs the session throughout, so it's not a case of handing a seven-year-old a brush and hoping for the best.

Sessions are Saturday and Sunday at 11:30am and last 45 minutes, which feels about right for the age range on the books, 7 to 13. That's long enough to get stuck in without losing anyone halfway through. £32 a child gets you the Splatter Art session, or £35 for Pour Art, where they build fluid sculptures instead of a flat canvas. Neither is pocket change for three quarters of an hour, but the studio only takes 12 stations at a time so it's never a scrum.

Parents can stay and watch rather than being shooed off, though the whole point is the guide runs things so kids get on with it themselves. It works well as a birthday session too, £32 to £35 a head with the option to add a Birthday Cake Ceremony that stretches things to a full hour. Worth knowing the public sessions share the studio with other parties on the same slot, so if you want the place to yourselves you'd need to book out all 12 stations privately.

How much does a session cost?

£32 a child for Splatter Art, £35 for Pour Art. Both run 45 minutes.

What ages is it suitable for?

The sessions are set up for 7 to 13 year olds.

Can we book it for a birthday party?

Public sessions work well for birthdays, though other parties may be running in the shared studio at the same time. Book all 12 stations if you want the space to yourselves, and add the Birthday Cake Ceremony to stretch the session to an hour.

Do parents need to stay in the room?

You're welcome to stay and watch, but the session's designed to run independently with a guide leading the kids through it.
