What it’s like
Weekly dance classes from toddler age up to 18, covering everything from ballet and acro to commercial and musical theatre, with an annual stage show to work towards.
Classes here run by style and age group, so a toddler of 18 months can start with something gentle while an older kid works through commercial, house, jazz, acro, ballet or musical theatre. Nobody needs prior experience; the site is clear that classes are built to develop students at their own level, and there's a trial session on offer if you want to see whether it clicks before committing to a term.
The catch, and it's a fair one for some parents, is that you don't get to watch. Venue space rules mean there's no viewing area, though you're allowed in for the first five minutes of a trial and can pop your head round the door at any point after that if you're curious. From age three up, children need to be confident going in without you, which is worth knowing if your three-year-old is the clingy type.
Terms follow the Edinburgh school calendar, so you're looking at roughly nine weeks in autumn and winter, and a longer stretch of ten to twelve weeks in spring and summer. Billing is per term with split payment options, and once your child's in, they're auto-enrolled for the next term unless you give fourteen days' notice to cancel.
Beyond the weekly classes there are holiday camps and an annual show on stage, which is the bit that tends to stick in a kid's memory long after the term's finished. Birthday parties are also on offer, commercial or street dance style, held at a venue of your choosing around Edinburgh rather than on site, with a £20 non-refundable booking fee to hold the date.
