What it’s like
Painting, pottery and clay sessions where kids pick their own project and work at their own pace for an hour.
This is an open studio rather than a set class, so your child picks what they fancy on the day: painting, pottery, clay work, or one of the party crafts like t-shirt design or mug painting. There's no set curriculum, which suits a kid who wants to potter about and change their mind halfway through, though it might frustrate one who wants to be told exactly what to make.
Studio sessions run 60 minutes as standard, with extra half-hours added on if there's space, so a quick hour can turn into an afternoon if your three-year-old is still deep in a plaster model. Pre-schoolers from age 3 get their own session at £6, while the general child studio time is £8. Accompanying adults get in free unless they pick up a brush themselves.
Parties are the bigger spend but cover more ground: a bespoke two-hour party for 10 is £250, pottery painting or t-shirt parties for 10 come in at £185, mug design at £180, and the plaster model party is the cheapest at £120 for an hour. Booking is required either way, and during term time sessions need to go in by 2.30pm, so this isn't one for a spontaneous rainy afternoon.
Parking is the one thing to plan around. High Street spots are limited, so you're better off aiming for one of the two car parks in Hurstpierpoint or the on-street parking nearby if the studio's own bit is full.

How long is a session?
Studio sessions are 60 minutes, and you can add extra time in half-hour chunks if there's availability. Party sessions run to the time booked, from one hour for a plaster model party up to two hours for a bespoke party.
Is it suitable for a toddler?
There's a specific pre-schooler session for age 3 and up, so it's set up for younger children rather than just an add-on.
Do parents have to pay to come in?
Accompanying adults get in free, unless they decide to join in and craft alongside the kids.
What do kids actually do there?
Painting, pottery and clay work in the open studio, plus party options like t-shirt design, mug design and plaster model painting.
