What it’s like

Paint a mug or plate at the table, come back a fortnight later to a proper glazed piece, no experience needed.

You pick a bisque item, a mug or a plate, and sit down to paint it while the studio fee covers your table and tools. It's £6 a head just to sit down, then £16 for the item itself, so a family of four painting mugs is a proper outing rather than a quick filler for a wet afternoon. Sessions run about two hours, and if you're still going when time's up you can come back later for a half-price studio fee to finish, which is a fair way to handle it.

Little ones are welcome from any age, and there's a baby print memory piece on the list of things kids do here alongside the standard painting and clay work, so it's not just for children old enough to hold a brush steady. Birthday parties get their own room, with a standard option at £30 a child and a premium one at £35, running two to two and a half hours. Bookings need at least four people for pottery painting or a party, and there are no walk-ins, so this is one to plan rather than turn up to on a whim.

The glazing and firing takes time, seven to ten days typically before your piece is ready, and you get a text when it's done. Collection has a two month window before they can't store it any longer, which is worth putting a reminder in for once you've made something you're pleased with. Parking's free on the surrounding streets and across Easthill Park, and if mobility is a concern they'll arrange driveway parking if you tell them in advance, since the studio has level access but isn't fully wheelchair accessible.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

The studio fee is £6 a person, then £16 for a mug or plate to paint. Extra time beyond your session is £6 an hour per person if you need it.

Do we need to book?

Yes, always. Pottery painting and parties both need a minimum of four people booked in, and there are no walk-ins.

How long does a visit take?

Around two hours for pottery painting, a bit longer at two to two and a half hours for a birthday party.

Is it OK for a toddler or baby?

There's no minimum age listed and baby print memory pieces are one of the things on offer, so very young children are catered for alongside the painting.

When do we get the finished pottery back?

Pieces are usually ready for collection seven to ten days after your session, and they text you when it's done. You get a two month window to collect before they can't keep storing it.

What if we don't finish in time?

You can come back for another session to complete it. A half-price studio fee applies when you return.

Can we cancel or reschedule?

For pottery painting you need to cancel at least two days ahead, and for parties at least seven days ahead, to get a refund. Miss that window and the deposit is forfeited.

Do birthday parties cost more?

A standard children's party is £30 a child and a premium one is £35. There's also a mobile party option at £35 per person if you'd rather they came to you.

Is there parking?

Free parking on the surrounding streets and a short walk across Easthill Park. If mobility is an issue, mention it when booking and they can arrange driveway parking.

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?

It has level access but isn't fully wheelchair accessible. Flag any mobility requirements when you book so they can set up a suitable table.
