What it’s like
Weekly art classes and holiday workshops where kids paint, sculpt clay and build 2D and 3D projects with proper teacher input.
This is a proper art studio, not a drop-in paint-your-own-plate session. Kids work through acrylic painting, clay sculpture, mixed media and tote bag design, with a structured curriculum and a 7:1 teacher to student ratio, so nobody's project gets lost in a crowd. Projects aren't quick either: a starter piece takes 2 to 3 weeks, and main projects can run 2 to 6 weeks depending on age and how into it your child gets.
It suits ages 6 to 18, with some studios trialling 5 to 6 year olds too, and classes are mixed-age with each child working on something pitched to them rather than everyone doing the same thing. That's a nice touch if you've got kids at different stages, though it does mean this isn't a session you turn up to on a whim. Trials cost money rather than being free tasters, which makes sense once you know it locks in staffing and materials for the session, and booking one holds your spot for the term.
If you're after something more one-off, the holiday workshops compress a project into two hours with a livelier, more social feel than the term-time classes. Birthday parties run from age 6, either in the studio or off-site, at £30 to £40 per child. You get 2 hours 45 minutes in-studio with 1.5 to 2 hours of actual activity, which is a decent chunk of time for a party that isn't just cake and chaos.
Materials are all included, so the only kit list is a water bottle and clothes you don't mind ruining. Aprons aren't provided, which is worth remembering if your child is precious about their school jumper.

What age is this for?
Classes run from age 6 to 18, with some studios currently trialling 5 to 6 year olds. Group classes are mixed-age, with each child working on their own age-appropriate project.
Do we need to book?
Booking is needed, and a paid trial session holds your spot for the term. If you don't confirm afterwards, the place is released 72 hours later.
Why does the trial cost money if it's just a taster?
It covers the staff and materials booked in for that session, so they need the numbers right in advance. It's not a free first go.
What if we miss a session?
Each student gets up to 5 make-up sessions a term, subject to availability. They need to be booked within the same term as the one missed.
Can we do a birthday party there?
Yes, parties run for age 6 and up, either at the studio or off-site. You get 2 hours 45 minutes in-studio and 1.5 to 2 hours of actual art activity, at £30 to £40 per child.
Do children get to choose what they make?
Projects balance structure with creative freedom, so your child contributes to the artwork while a teacher guides the technical side. It's not entirely free choice, but it's not paint-by-numbers either.
