What it’s like
Independent screenings in a small, proper cinema, with family and baby-friendly matinees worked into the week.
This is a small independent cinema rather than a multiplex, so don't expect the big blockbuster screens. What you get instead is a proper programme of independent and world film, with family-friendly titles and Bringing in Baby screenings built into the week, which is a nice touch if you've got a very small one who isn't going to sit through a normal showing quietly.
Tickets are £9.50 standard, but matinees drop to £7.50 and anyone 25 or under, students, staff or on a low income pays £5, same as the Bringing in Baby and family screenings. That £5 tier does a lot of work here if you're bringing teenagers or young adults along, and it's worth knowing about even if the standard price stings a bit for an independent cinema.
Opening hours are a bit particular: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday it's 5 to 8.30pm, Wednesday it stretches from 1 to 8.30pm, and Saturday runs 1 to 8pm. There's no Sunday or Monday listed, so plan around that if you're thinking of a spontaneous trip. The café's there if you want a coffee before or after, and the building has wheelchair access with a lift up to the box office and café/bar.
Booking online adds a £1.50 fee unless you're a member, and there are no refunds on tickets, only a 12-month credit note if you sort an exchange before the screening starts. Worth remembering before you commit to a Saturday afternoon slot that might clash with nap time.
