What it’s like

A studio where kids sit down and paint their own pottery or ceramics, with parking sorted and cake on hand.

This is the sort of visit that slows everything right down. You pick a piece of pottery or ceramic, sit at a table and get on with painting it, no rushing about, no queuing for a ride. For a kid who's happy focusing on one thing for a while, that's exactly the appeal.

The opening hours are a bit particular, so it's worth knowing before you head over. Wednesdays run midday to 6, Thursday to Saturday it's 10 till 4, and they're shut Monday, Tuesday and Sunday entirely. That's not a huge window if you're planning around nap times or a Sunday whim.

There's a café on site, which matters more than it sounds when you've got a child who's decided painting a mug takes exactly four minutes before hunger strikes. Parking is free, which is one less thing to think about, and party rooms are available if you fancy a pottery painting party instead of the usual soft play do. They mention out of hours bookings for parties too.

It suits kids who can sit still and concentrate on something fiddly, so have a think about whether that's your lot before you commit an afternoon to it.
